Emma Nelson
Editorial Director
Emma worked for over a decade as an account and project manager, and she’s been a technical, fiction, and academic editor for even longer. She has a BA in English and Editing and an MA in Literature.
She’s equally passionate about fiction and nonfiction, with a particular soft spot for pop culture and folklore. As Editorial Director, Emma works with books from acceptance to publication—and long after—plotting the best ways to give each author a unique path and make their stories as successful as they can be.

Emma lives in the beautiful Appalachian Mountains with her three kids and an obscene number of cats, dogs, and chickens.
Hannah Smith
Acquisitions Director
Hannah has a BA in History, has worked for several years as a freelance editor, and is an educator. She spends all her spare time escaping between the pages of a book, and a foray into editing seemed like the best way to channel that energy.
She lives in rural Virginia with her husband and four rambunctious children.
As director of acquisitions, Hannah discovers new talent and acquires manuscripts for OHP. She is also the editor of our yearly anthology and StoryCon teen-author series.
Caroline Geslison
Publicity Manager
Caroline has a BA in Education and a strong background in sales and event planning. She loves bringing her passions for books and marketing together in innovative ways to provide books with the best exposure possible.
When she’s not in the bookish world, Caroline loves throwing elaborate parties, playing all the sports, and spending time with her husband and two adorable children.
As Publicity Manager, Caroline works with authors in their publicity, marketing, and events. She’s also leading OHP’s ongoing efforts to build relationships with bookstores, foreign rights, and distribution channels.
Olivia Swenson
Developmental Editor
Olivia picked up an inherent sense of grammar and storyline from a childhood spent reading the works (and worlds) of Jane Yolen, Roald Dahl, Avi, Tamora Pierce, T. A. Barron, and others—usually multiple times. Formal classes in grammar, organization, and style at Brigham Young University solidified her knowledge of character, scene, plot, and world development.
Since graduating with a minor in editing in 2013, Olivia has worked with authors to edit more than 80 novels, a handful of memoirs, and a few dissertations in a variety of fields. When she’s not reading the latest fantasy or The Economist, you can find her running the hills of Pittsburgh, traveling with her husband, or eating donuts.
As a content editor, Olivia is on a team with authors to make their dialogues, plots, worlds, and characters fit together to make the best story possible.
Elise Meyer
Social Outreach Coordinator
Elise is an avid fantasy reader and writer who has a soft spot for romance. She resides in the forested lands of Virginia with her dashing husband, wonderful daughter, and three mischievous sons, but will always be a California girl at heart.
After jumping head first into the online bookish world, she has found a passion for content creation. As an influencer for book promotion tour companies and a member of author street teams, promoting recommendable books and creating beautiful aesthetics has made her bookworm dreams come true.
Elise has a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics Education and briefly braved the wilderness of teaching high school geometry. Her logical side gives structure to her creative interests, which include writing, illustrating, hand lettering, and sewing epic, family Halloween costumes.
As our social outreach coordinator, Elise manages our Flight Crew team of book influencers, runs the OHP TikTok account, and works closely with our publicity manager in marketing efforts for authors.
