At Owl Hollow Press, our focus has always been authors. From the beginning, our mission has supported writers not only in publishing their work, but in building sustainable, fulfilling careers in the literary world. While we are deeply committed to the authors we publish, we believe our support shouldn’t stop there. The publishing industry works best when writers are empowered with knowledge, craft, and community. That belief inspired our new workshop series.

This spring, we’re launching the first of those programs: Road to Revision, a virtual workshop designed specifically for writers who have finished a manuscript and are ready to take the next step.

The Importance of Revision

Finishing a manuscript is a huge accomplishment, but it’s not the final step. Revision is where stories deepen, characters sharpen, and manuscripts transform from a draft into something truly submission-ready. However, revision can also feel overwhelming. Writers often find themselves wondering:

  • Where do I start?

  • How do I know what to change and what to keep?

  • What do agents and editors actually look for in the acquisition process and how do I get my work to that level?

Road to Revision was created to help answer those questions.

Learn From Industry Professionals

For this workshop, we’ve partnered with experienced professionals across the publishing industry. Participants will learn directly from editors, published bestselling authors, and an experienced literary agent.

These professionals will guide participants through practical revision strategies while offering insight into how manuscripts evolve on the path to publication. The workshop will combine instruction, discussion, and hands-on exercises so writers can actively strengthen their manuscripts during the program.

Workshop Details

Dates: April 21 – May 28, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 7pm-8:30pm EST

Participants will meet for two 90-minute sessions each week via Zoom, creating a consistent rhythm for learning, revising, and asking questions along the way. On Tuesdays, we will have lectures followed by a Q&A. On Thursdays, we will workshop two participant manuscripts per week in a round-robin style critique. We’ll provide guidelines and suggestions for structuring so that everyone gets consistent feedback.

This workshop is designed for authors who have a completed manuscript and are ready to revise. Whether you're preparing to query agents, submit to publishers, or just want to strengthen your work, the program is built to help you move forward with confidence.

A Small, Focused Cohort

To keep the workshop interactive and supportive, we are limiting the cohort to just 12 participants. Our goal is to create a space where writers feel comfortable asking questions, sharing ideas, and engaging directly with instructors.

Applications

Applications for the spring workshop will be open: March 15 – March 31

If you’re a writer with a completed manuscript and you’re ready to dig into revision with guidance from publishing professionals, we’d love to hear from you.

Cost: The introductory cost for twelve 90-minute sessions is $650. This will cover every lecture, the resource library of worksheets and activities, feedback from your peers on the first 10 pages of your manuscript with discussion, and feedback on the first 50 pages of your manuscript from an Owl Hollow editor. We’ll offer add-ons for those who’d like a full manuscript read or 1:1 developmental edit calls.

At Owl Hollow Press, we believe publishing should be collaborative, transparent, and author-centered. Workshops like Road to Revision are one way we’re working to expand that mission beyond our own catalog and into the broader writing community. When authors succeed, the entire literary ecosystem becomes stronger.

Visit our website for details on lectures, classes, and participating professionals.

We’re excited to begin this new chapter and can’t wait to meet the writers who will join us.
